Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel's full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can't buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world could be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
