Poker has become globally famous as of late, with televised championships and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back quite a bit further than its television scores. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the players bet against the casino rather than each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or other kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up just before the dealer saying "No further bets." At that moment, both you and the casino and of course all of the other gamblers are given 5 cards each. Once you have looked at your hand and the casino's initial card, you have to in turn make a call bet or surrender. The call wager's amount is on same level to your beginning bet, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Giving Up means that your ante goes instantaneously to the house. After the bet is the face off. If the casino doesn't have ace/king or better, your bet is given back, plus a figure in accordance with the original bet. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand defeats the casino's hand. The dealer pays chips equal to your bet and controlled odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
