Poker has become globally celebrated lately, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years many variants on the earliest poker game have been developed, including a few games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling blackjack than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the house rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is no bluffing or other types of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up just before the croupier declares "No further bets." At that moment, both you and the casino and of course all of the other gamblers receive five cards. Once you have seen your hand and the casino's first card, you have to either make a call wager or bow out. The call bet's amount is akin to your original bet, indicating that the risks will have doubled. Abandoning means that your ante goes immediately to the dealer. After the bet comes the conclusion. If the casino does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, with a sum equal to the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand is greater than the casino's hand. The casino pays chips even with your wager and controlled odds on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
