Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complex but well-loved poker games. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once obscure game, has expanded in acceptance so amazingly.

Omaha hi lo begins like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to every player. A round of betting follows in which gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. Three cards are handed out, this is known as the flop. Another round of betting happens. After all the players have in turn called or dropped out, a further card is flipped on the turn. Another round of wagering ensues at which point the river card is flipped. The gamblers will have to make the best high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where some entrants get confused. Contrasted to Texas Holdem, where the board can be every player's hand, in Omaha hi-low the player has to use precisely 3 cards from the board, and precisely two hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot could be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It's the best hand out of everyone's, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical approach in nearly all poker games.

The low hand is more difficult, but certainly opens up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes don't count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the high hand wins the complete pot.

While it seems complex initially, following a few hands you will be able to pick up on the base nuances of play with ease. Since you have players betting for the low and betting for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an exciting array of wagering choices and owing to the fact that you have numerous players battling for the high, along with several shooting for the low hand. If you love a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it's not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha/8.
