Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't let the adverse feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn't a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
