Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times viewed as one of the most complex but popular poker games. It's a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once obscure variation, has grown in popularity so amazingly.

Omaha/8 starts like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to every player. A round of wagering ensues in which gamblers can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are given out, this is known as the flop. Another sequence of betting happens. Once all the players have either called or folded, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further round of wagering follows at which point the river card is flipped. The players must attempt to make the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where some entrants get baffled. Contrasted to Hold'em, where the board can make up every player's hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to use precisely 3 cards on the board, and exactly two hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is just how it sounds. It is the strongest hand out of everyone's, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical notion in almost every poker game.

The lower hand is more difficult, but really opens up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don't count. A low hand is the weakest hand that could be made, with the lowest being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes don't count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no lower hand available, the higher hand wins the complete pot.

It may seem complicated at the outset, after a few rounds you will be able to get the basic subtleties of the game with ease. Seeing as you have individuals wagering for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an amazing assortment of betting possibilities and seeing that you have many individuals shooting for the high hand, as well as a few shooting for the low. If you like a game with a lot of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha/8.
