Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu's full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best bettors around the world. While playing web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world might be players you have never heard of. Gus can be found wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold'em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
